Boys Single Final (bo 5 sets)In an amazing boys single final Swedens Oskar Lukasiak won this years Europe Cup Youth. His opponent Jamie Lewis from Wales did everything he could to stop the enormous power of Lukasiak but he could not handle all the 100+ scores Lukasiak produced. The first leg went with the darts to Lukasiak. In the second leg Lukasiak produced his first 180 of this final so he had 86 left. It took 3 darts on double 8 to break Lewis for the first time. The first leg in the second set was a close call but Lukasiak also managed to win it, he needed 2 darts on double 16. Lewis, who did not looked to impressed, tried a 170 finish in the second leg but again Lukasiak was too fast. He also won the second set.
The first leg in the third set was one not to forget. Lukasiak started with a 180, 140 and 145, which left him at double 18 for a 10 dart game. Unfortunaly he did not make it. Lewis made a great come back after that leg. With Lukasiak at 46 for the championship Lewis threw double 3 with his last dart for 1-1 in the third set. But in the last leg Lukasiak did not even blink when he got a chance at 120. 20, t20 and d20 won him the Championship. Girls Single Final (bo 7 legs)Zoe Jones from England competed against Finlands Aliisa Koskivirta in the Girls Single Final. Zoe won the toss and had to start throwing for the cup. In the first leg Zoe got on tops and only needed one dart to secure the first leg. Aliisa started the second leg strong but Zoe excellent with 2 100 scores and a 147 score and finished the leg with 2 darts for tops. The third leg was as close as can be with Aliisa having 57 point left and Zoe 31. Again Jones was the coolest and finished 31 in 2 darts. With the champiponship already in mind Zoe Jones rushed throught the last leg and finished 59 while Aliisa was at 174.
When the last dart hit the double Zoe went through her knees and let all the emotion and tention of the last days out. A very emotional moment from the deserved winner of the Girls Singles Finale. Boys Pairs Final (bo 7 legs)Tuomas Tikka and Juuso Raittila from Finland and Oskar Lusakiak and Edwin Torbjornsson from Sweden battles against eachother in the final of the Boys Pairs in what would a pretty one sided match. The Swedes proved to be a very very tough opponent for the Fins who never really got into the game. The Swedes won the toss and and Oskar set Edwin ready for a 12 finish. He did not hesitate to throw that one out for the 1-0. The second leg was not really a game at all. When Sweden was already thinking of how to finish the leg, Finland in the mid 200's. The leg ended with one dart at double 10 from Oskar Lukasiak.
The third leg ended the same way as the second with a double 10 from Lusakiak. The Fins where almost at a double at that time, with had 75 left. In the fourth and final leg Oskar proved again to be very valueable for his team. A double 8 ended this game and put Sweden in a great position for the overall title. It also was the second golden medal for Oskar Lusakiak in the tournament after winning the Boys Single and now the Boys Pairs. Girls Pairs Final (bo 7 legs)After winning the Girls Single Final Zoe Jones could not go out and party, she had another final to play together with her mate Lauren Hitchens against neighbours Wales. Kimberley Lewis and Gemma Bowen had to defend their countries honour. In the first leg the ladies really had to get used to eachother and the stage. The darts were not going in the directions the girls wanted. England in the end was able to finish the leg. In the second leg Wales had the opportunity to get back in the game. Unfortunately for the Welsh, the double were missed and that gave Zoe the chance to also win the second leg. That chance wasnt missed by her and eventually she was the one that took the leg and made it 2-0 for the English side. The third leg was not as close as the second. Zoe and Lauren started to hit the numbers they wanted and ended the third leg quickly.
In the fourth leg the English felt the pressure of the crowd on their shoulders. The Welsh girls could not take advantage of this situation and the leg ended in a very tight battle for the double. Again England was on the winning side of the two and Zoe and Lauren could hold the cup up high in the air. For Zoe this was the second gold medal of the day. Boys Team Final (bo 17 legs)Altough the Dutch player dissappointed a little bit they were very focused for this match for their home public. Their opponents were the toughest they could think of; Sweden. Gilbert van der Meijden kicked the game off against star player Lusakiak and set the tone, he won 1-0. Edwin Torbjornsson evened the match against Daniel van Mourik. Then, 3 dutch victories got the Netherlands a 4-1 lead. Lusakiak won versus Jeffrey Stigter but Daniel van Mourik countered that with a win against Charlie Guldvinge. Birk Kamp than beat Jeffrey Sparidaans for a 5-3 lead for the Dutch. Both teams won 3 games after that so a 8-7 was on the scoreboard. That was the time Gilbert van der Meijden and Charlie Guldvinge got on stage. Gilbert scored a few good scores but Charlie really did not have his day today and did not preform the way he used to do. That the Netherlands would win this game was clear pretty early on in the match but Gilbert made the Dutch fans more than nervous. With double 2 left Gilbert took all the time he wanted, using not less then 8 darts for the leg, match and championship. |
